About the Exhibit

Passages: Field Notes from Colonel Samuel Smith Park was an exhibit that featured the watercolour illustrations of Michelle Parsons, showcasing various bird species from Colonel Samuel Smith Park.

 

The exhibit was held in the Third Floor Gallery of the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre at Humber College. The collection, aimed at raising awareness about local ecosystems and conservation, was open to visitors from May 13, 2024, to August 2, 2024.

About the Artist

 

Michelle Parsons, originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, has lived in Toronto for over two decades. With a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Toronto and a 15-year manufacturing career, she discovered her passion for birds in 2020 in Colonel Samuel Smith Park.

 

Currently a biology student at York University and a FLAP Canada volunteer, Michelle merges art and science in her watercolour illustrations, including the series "Daydreaming in the Solar System.
