About the Exhibit
The First Light was an exhibit that featured photographer Taku Kumabe and his photos depicting the sunrise along the Etobicoke Waterfront.
The exhibit was held throughout the Third Floor Gallery of the Welcome Centre at Humber College Lakeshore. The collection of breathtaking photographs was launched for the enjoyment of the public on December 6, 2017 and was open to visitors until March 17, 2018.

About the Artist
Taku Kumabe is an Etobicoke-based freelance photographer and art director specializing in events and festivals around the city. His passion for landscape and nature photography has him out during his spare time - often in the mornings - capturing the beauty of Mother Nature.
The Toronto Sunrise Series is a passion project that started with his first photo of the Toronto sunrise taken in the winter of 2014. Every sunrise is different, which is what keeps him coming back to the shores of Lake Ontario.
Comprising of more than 400 photos taken along the lakeshore, the variety seen in the Toronto Sunrise Series spans a gamut of subject matter. Whether it's the fog rolling in on a beautiful autumn morning, the vibrant colours found in the cool, crisp winter air, the beauty of the swans taking off in the springtime, or the rowers in sync along the shores in the summertime, there is always something to capture, making the series so enjoyable to photograph.
